Twenty years ago the RSPB Reserve at Arne was closed to the general public and, without a permit, you could only walk down the main bridal-way to Shipstal Point and back. Since then they have steadily opened up the site with a series of way-marked paths, the longest of which, the Red Route , makes a very pleasant and varied stroll of about 4 km (2.5 mls ) in length. There are miles of footpaths to follow through woodland, heathland and countryside to the stunning coastline.
